me humbly asking to buy the book

just the other day, i came across a peculiar volume in a small antique store in my town to which i have never been to before (it is usually closed). as i walked in to pay for said book, i realised that the shop was lacking a counter. instead, the owner was sat on a sort of camping or deck chair. also, it became obvious that he – despite the small collection of books he was selling – was just as surprised as I was about my trove. before actually taking my money for the thing, he even bothered to read the blurb on its back, as if to make sure that he wouldn't get into any trouble for selling this to me. after an awkward exchange of glances, cash, and "the book", i swiftly left the store. in my hands a jet-black, squarish paperback. on it, a cord-like font spelling: Aleister Crowley's Magical Rituals.

to my initial disappointment, the book did not actually contain any spells at all. rather, it is filled with (obviously esoteric) descriptions of ceremonies for Crowley's occult order. nevertheless, i was able to craft some rpg spells from the book's pages. i will not include any levels, costs, recharge conditions or the like – simply use them however you'd like, or don't.

spells

  1. force someone's mind to focus on exactly one object.
  2. turn any elongated object into a snake-lion of the same size for three turns.
  3. whisper someone's name. even if they're far away, they will hear you whisper. you can only say their name to them.
  4. touch a limb. it starts growing teeth.
  5. choose one being you have met before. you can access one of their senses for one turn.
  6. choose an object. you now know what it is made out of – given that you know the material.
  7. in a sphere that is about your size and near you, the air gets burning hot.
  8. from a weapon you are holding, green lightning and flowers are springing forth.
  9. transform any book into Aleister Crowley's Magical Rituals. It is now completely useless.
